The 2026 Royal Microscopical Society conference is being held in Liverpool from 31 August to 4 September.

The event, which is being organised by the RMS alongside the University of Liverpool and the International Federation of Societies for Microscopy (IFSM), takes place from 31 August – 4 September at the LEX venue on the city’s iconic waterfront.
Held every four years since 1954 and attracting hundreds of delegates from across the globe, the Congress features world-renowned plenary speakers alongside an extensive trade exhibition with leading companies launching groundbreaking new instruments.
In addition to a five-day scientific programme, IMC21 will host the Young Scientist Assembly (YSA) for all Early Career Researchers (ECRs). This includes a social day out and networking dinner on Saturday 29 August, followed by a full-day meeting on Sunday 30 August.
